Some successful hunters in and around Red Mill.
This 2 year old male bear was taken by Dave Alexander in archery season 2007. He was able to video it for 45 minutes before it came close enough to his tree stand so he could take the shot. It weighed 185 lbs. & had both ears tagged. Game Commission officers reported in June it weighed 90 lbs.
This male bear was taken by Joe Gordon in 1987 rifle season. It was shot about 1/4 mile from Red Mill Cottage. The bear measured 6 ft. 9 in. from his nose to his tail & weighed 435 lbs. It was the 3rd largest bear taken in the PA Gamelands Southwest Region that season. The largest weighed just over 600 lbs. & the 2nd largest just over 500 lbs.
This 200 lb. buck was taken by Joe Gordon in 2004 rifle season. He shot it from his tree stand on opening morning. The beautifully balanced 8 point rack had a 21 1/2 inch spread. It's shown hanging in front of his hunting camp along the Rexis Branch of the Ghost Town Trail.
This nice gobbler was taken by Eric Leightley in 2006. It was 22 lbs. and had 10 inch beard. He has managed to get his gobbler every year. He's pictured with his sons Galen, Gavin & Gage.
This gobbler was bagged by Eric Leightley in 2007. It was 22 1/2 lbs. and had 2 beards. One was 10 inches and the second was 6 inches but very thin.
